It’s Katie-K’s favorite time of year again to help one of her favorite organizations: LaughFest, and its beneficiary, Gilda’s Club. You can help kick-off Grand Rapids’ premier funny fundraiser on Thursday, March 7, 5:30 p.m. by meeting up near Rosa Parks Circle to receive your mustache and then help break the Guinness World Record at 6:30! LaughFest is designed to raise awareness and funds for a very important cause-supporting children, adults, families and friends as they find their smile and laughter in the midst of a cancer or grief journey. All proceeds from LaughFest benefit the programs offered through Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids, a free community with a comprehensive program of education, structured sharing times, networking, lectures, workshops and social activities designed to support emotional health needs.
Last year, 607 individuals performed the chicken dance and set the Guinness World Record for the greatest number of people wearing animal noses (specifically chicken beaks!) at a single venue.
In 2011, 925 rubber chickens were tossed in downtown Grand Rapids, shattering the previous record of 265 set near Boston, Mass. The largest gathering of people wearing false mustaches was achieved by 648 participants at an event organized by the St. Louis Rams in September 2012.
Afterward, join the fun at one of several LaughFest events.
